St. Clair Hospital’s Fresh New Look

St. Clair Hospital's Fresh New Look

It’s inevitable that healthcare staff spend hours upon hours at a hospital or care facility, which is why they frequent the cafeteria or dining hall on premise.

As dining services, hospitals such as St. Clair are starting to step up their game by working with Cura to add creative menu items, upgrade food options and provide convenient services.

As part of St. Clair’s recent renovation to its main cafeteria, a display action station was added where Cura Executive Chef Rich Costanza makes everything to order!  According to Joe Landolina, Cura general manager of dining, “we also added a new charbroiler which is an amazing style of cooking equipment that scorches foods giving meats, fish as well as vegetables that great off the grill flavor!”

Landolina is also offering more upscale fare including gourmet sliders, carved tenderloin and crab cakes. You can also find mezze Mediterranean favorites such as hummus including black bean roasted red pepper, as well as new vegetarian items and a breakfast buffet on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Guests can also select from pizza, menu items from the grill, self-serve soup and an extensive salad bar.  Menus are always kept fresh by rotating the menu cycle every five weeks.

One of the most exciting changes is the on-line “express order” service, which was initially offered to hospital staff and guests while the renovations in the main cafeteria were underway.  During this time, staff and guests were able to order lunch and dinner online and pick up at Café 4, which is a smaller café located on the fourth floor of the hospital.   “The service was so popular that we kept it to offer limited daily menu items including soups, salads and sandwiches,” said Landolina.

Back by popular demand —  BOX’D CHEF!  St. Clair Hospital was selected as one of the first U.S. hospitals to offer BOX’D CHEF, delicious take-home meal kits, during test pilot days in the fall of 2017!  BOX’D CHEF was developed by Elior UK, which is part of Elior Group, Cura Hospitality’s global parent company.

New BOX’D CHEF recipes will soon be added providing yet another dining offering at St. Clair!

In addition to Chef Rich, the following team members support Cura at St. Clair:  Colleen Rivera, retail manager; Chef Joel Morgan; Maria Martinez, Emir Balic, Laura Wolschlager, Victoria Kelly, Zulfiya Binaileva and DI Hers Glotfelty, cafeteria team members.
