Meet Cura’s New Corporate Director of Culinary John Cramutola CDM, CFPP. We are thrilled to welcome Chef John to Cura as he will lead our culinary direction to the next level. Chef John has a robust breadth of experience, an opening chef for a busy fast-casual restaurant concept in South Jersey as well as collaborating with Stink Fisher, the NFL Player, Actor, and Owner. Chef John even cooked for former President of the United States Donald Trump. Chef John shares progressive methods as well as cutting-edge and trendy ideas to enhance guest and patient satisfaction.
Chef’s culinary expertise is lauded for bringing dishes to life by using spices to enhance the flavors of everyday meals. Chef John’s favorite recipe is butter chicken. “I love the intense flavor of the toasted spices and the richness of the butter.” Chef is also a fan of foods featuring vibrant colors. Natural colorful ingredients such as beetroot, carrot, and kale are increasingly showing up in vegetable and plant-based snacks.
Today, hospital administrators recognize that food service is not their core competency. Relying on the experts in that industry gives administrators the ability and more time to focus on their core business.
Enhance Engagement
Chef John supports the Cura team as we continue to rebrand hospital cafes to enhance engagement and improve guest satisfaction. We create a respite for medical staff and primary health care providers who need a ‘recharge’ meal break with healthy made-to-order, plant-based, and convenient to-go meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Cura will refresh your cafe with new designs, trending brands, and unique concepts that will increase foot traffic from even outside the hospital.
Once inside, guests can select from a variety of fresh selections including salad bars with tons of options to seasonal recipes from Cura’s So Good signature food program. Guests also love our Fan Favorite, one of Cura’s most popular promotions that features an employee’s favorite dish monthly. The program increases sales by 10% on promotion days.
Customers also enjoy the convenience of our grab-and-go options and Cura’s Heat at Home program, which offers employees a “scratch” meal they can take home with them for quick and easy dining. Kiosks and touchless checkouts are also available, driving satisfaction for guests who want a quick and hassle-free shopping experience.
Cura compliments your vision to be a destination for not only stellar healthcare but dining too!
Next-Level Culinary Training
Chef John will revitalize our Cura Culinary College (CCC) and Service College to ensure the realization of employee growth objectives. Employees will be energized by these exceptional hands-on training programs taught by Chef John and other Culinary Institute of America-accomplished executive chefs throughout Cura’s organization.
Employees will learn culinary best practices such as vegetable preparation, knife skills, presentation, and tasting the difference between “Farm to Table” vs. processed food. More advanced learning focuses on enhancing the guest experience, from learning pastry arts skills to creating upscale textured-diet meals that improve eating habits and the health of patients.
In fact, our CCC employees may receive educational credits toward a formal culinary degree at an accredited institution.
Hospitality and customer service training is also offered to our hospital waitstaff through our Service College. The goal is for our employees to partner with your nurses to uplift patient spirits through quality food and customer service.
Our curated training modules support our Completely Satisfied concept and philosophy which focuses on each patient’s specific health and nutritional needs, all while instilling feelings of community and contentment, vital to their health, well-being, and the overall patient experience.
Inspiring our students to learn and grow in their careers is a benefit for recruitment and retention!
Signature Wellness Concept
BeWell is so much more than the food on the plate. To overcome market challenges, hospitals need to focus on the well-being of patients as well as healthcare workers who struggle with their own health. In fact, employee health and wellness strategies promote an organizational culture focused on achievement.
BeWell is a behavior-based, nudging approach that helps all achieve their personal health and wellness goals by making the healthy food choice an easy choice. We demonstrate our commitment to improving the health of all Americans, from children to seniors, by promoting healthier lifestyles through BeWell advertising, special menu offers, and culinary demonstrations that incorporate a small dose of nutrition education.
At Cura Hospitality, we nurture wellbeing with every meal we serve!
Nourishing Solutions
Malnutrition is a known and yet challenging health concern for the aged. Cura makes nutritious meals a reality for patients and families with food insecurities. This includes providing the proper foods to fulfill their individual nutritional requirements – our goal is for all families to eat and live well!
Cura teams conduct cooking demonstrations using food and affordable ingredients that are commonly stored in healthy food center pantries. Chefs prepare the recipes for outpatient and for members of the community, giving them the tools, ingredients, and confidence to easily replicate at home.
“The partnership with Cura is amazing. I’m so impressed with Clint and Chefs Ryan and Mario. The way that they conducted the presentation was so informational, while respectful to those in attendance, “says Colleen Ereditario, MPH, RD, LDN, Program Manager, Healthy Food Centers for AHN.
